April 12 was the day Minnesota played its 2018 spring game.
But it was also a day Sam Renner will never forget.
Renner, a walk-on defensive end, is a redshirt junior. During the game, coach P.J. Fleck paused it.

Renner said afterwards that it was a dream. When he decided to walk on to the Golden Gophers, he said he always dreamed about getting a scholarship and wasn’t sure if it would happen, but that it was an amazing experience.
Since Renner got to Minnesota, he has maintained a 4.0 GPA. The 6-foot-4 defensive lineman from Maple Grove, Minn., was a part of the Golden Gophers’ 2015 class and was not ranked by 247Sports.
