Minnesota is losing a veteran member of its offensive line.
Guard Connor Mayes, who started in 15 games during the last two seasons, announced his plans to leave the Golden Gophers following spring practice on Friday. In a note on Twitter, Mayes called new Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck “an amazing man and coach” but said it was in his best interest to leave the school.
