Minnesota’s remained hot on the recruiting trail heading into the weekend. Defensive tackle/center Brett Kitrell has committed to the Golden Gophers.
Kitrell, a 3-star prospect, announced his commitment on Twitter Friday morning.

The Ashland, Neb., native is rated as the No. 80 defensive tackle nationally in the Class of 2017 and the No. 3 prospect in the state of Nebraska. It appears Kitrell could play on the offensive line once he arrives at Minnesota, as he was recruited by offensive line coach Bart Miller.

Kitrell received seven scholarship offers, with Minnesota’s offer being the only one from a Power Five conference team. Kitrell also received interest from Nebraska and Iowa, but did not reportedly receive an offer.
Kitrell’s decision gives Minnesota nine commitments for its 2017 class, which currently ranks No. 73 nationally and No. 12 in the Big Ten. This is the second commitment in two days for coach Tracy Claeys, as the Gophers landed 2-star offensive tackle Corey Gaynor on Thursday.
