Special teams — and punters — often get overlooked in the game of football.
On Sunday, though, the Minnesota Golden Gophers made some news because of their special teams. Tom Foley — a Class of 2019 punter — committed to the team as a preferred walk-on.

Foley is not ranked by 247Sports. The 6-foot-5 punter is from Peoria, Ill. He has no scholarship offers, according to the site, but was listed as a favorite to join Minnesota.
Prior to Foley’s announcement, the Golden Gophers owned the No. 19 class nationally for 2019 and No. 4 class in the Big Ten. Foley is the lone punter committed to Minnesota and the class is led by 4-star weakside defensive end Jason Bargy.
