Gaynor had just two other Power 5 offers — Pitt and West Virginia — and a whole slew of others, including UCF, USF, Bowling Green and Western Kentucky.
Minnesota has the 72nd recruiting class in the nation, per 247Sports, with eight total commitments. Seven are rated 3-star. The Gophers’ class is 12th in the Big Ten.
Gaynor, a 6-foot-4, 282-pound lineman, is the 87th-ranked guard in the nation and 297th-ranked player in Florida. He hails from Pompano Beach, Fla., and will be a senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School this fall.
