Minnesota has fired longtime wrestling coach J Robinson.
The school announced the decision on Wednesday, according to the Star Tribune and other media outlets. Robinson, who led the Gophers to three national championships since taking over in 1986, had been on paid administrative leave since June 1. The school was investigating allegations into some wrestlers using and also selling prescription drug Xanax, as reported by the Star Tribune.
Robinson, 70 years old, was under contract through 2020. Brandon Eggum will be the team’s interim head coach this season.
