Minnesota football added the third defensive tackle to its 2018 recruiting class Tuesday when Noah Shannon announced his pledge to the Golden Gophers via Twitter. Shannon, rated a 3-star prospect by 247Sports, selected Minnesota rather than Indiana, Central Michigan and Arkansas.

The 6-foot-2, 270-pound Shannon (Oswego, Ill.) is the No. 59 defensive tackle in the country and is the 18th-best prospect in Illinois.
In his career, Shannon accumulated 104 tackles, including 40 solo, averaging 5 tackles per game.
With this commitment, the Golden Gophers jump one spot in the national rankings to No. 11 and are No. 4 in the Big Ten recruiting standings with 14 commits.
