Shannon, a class of 2018 3-star defensive tackle prospect and Oswego, Ill., native, tweeted Sunday he was de-committing from Minnesota, leaving the Golden Gophers with only two defensive tackle commits.
In his tweet, Shannon says Minnesota is still considered one of his top schools.

According to 247Sports, Shannon is rated as the ninth-best prospect in the state of Illinois and the 42nd-best defensive tackle prospect in the nation.
Shannon committed to the Gophers after he took an unofficial visit to the campus. He’s also unofficially visited Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and Iowa State. Illinois has not offered Shannon, however, and its possible an offer from the Fighting Illini could factor into Shannon’s final decision.
Shannon holds official scholarship offers from Iowa, Michigan State, Indiana, Iowa State, Arkansas and Missouri.
With Shannon’s de-commitment, Minnesota currently has 17 commitments in the class of 2018. Even though they lost a top defensive tackle prospect, they still hold the 17th-best recruiting class in the nation and the sixth-best recruiting class in the Big Ten.
