The FBI is investigating possible fraud in the University of Minnesota’s ticket office, according to a report from the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
The university found some discrepancies in records at the ticket office and turned the investigation over to the FBI after starting an internal examination, the report said.
The Gophers fired former ticket operations director Brent Holck in February, the Star Tribune reported. Ryan Dillon was hired as Minnesota’s assistant athletic director for sales and services in May, according to his LinkedIn page.
Minnesota ranked eighth in the Big Ten in revenue over the last season, and the Gophers averaged 43,814 fans per game at TCF Bank Stadium in 2016. That was a decrease of nearly 9,000 fans per game from the 2015 campaign.
