Smith’s commitment is the second cornerback commit for Minnesota in the class of 2018 and bumps the Gophers recruiting class to No. 4 overall in the Big Ten among class of 2018.
He’s also the fifth 3-star prospect to commitment, giving Minnesota a stream of solid players for next year’s recruiting class.
Smith, the 58th-best prospect in the state of Georgia and the 59th-best cornerback prospect in the nation, committed to the Gophers over fellow Big Ten programs in Indiana, Maryland and Purdue. He also spurned offers from Virginia, West Virginia and Ole Miss for Minnesota.
Smith is joining a growing Gophers class of 2018 which has the potential to be one of the best in the Big Ten once more recruits join in the coming months.
