Steak lovers in Ann Arbor, Mich., are getting discounted food this week thanks to Michigan football.
So it’s only right that Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh gets a seat at a table.
While speaking on his Monday radio show, Harbaugh said he’s going to Ruth’s Chris Steak House to take advantage of the discounted steaks. The Wolverines routed Rutgers 78-0 on Saturday in Piscataway, N.J., but the margin was so large that the discount was capped at 50 percent.
The restaurant was getting booked due to the great deal, but it seems Harbaugh and his wife will get the deal.
“My wife Sarah and I are going to Ruth’s Chris this week — I want to thank Buzz Goebel (the general manager) for getting us in, because it’s all sold out,” Harbaugh said Monday.
Of the promotion, Harbaugh found out about it Sunday, after Michigan returned from New Jersey.
“It tickled me,” Harbaugh said.
Harbaugh sometimes refers to players as being “tougher than a two-dollar steak.” Judging from the Ruth’s Chris menu, Harbaugh may spend a few more dollars at the steakhouse — the cheapest cut on the menu is a petite filet for $39, while the most expensive is a 40-ounce tomahawk ribeye for $115.
