Not only did Michigan’s No. 7 AP Poll rank mark its best start in the poll since 2007 (No. 5), but the Wolverines got there thanks to a first-place vote.
Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News was the only voter to put Michigan No. 1.
As Wolf puts it, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh is the main reason why Wolf has confidence in the Wolverines.

As MLive.com‘s Nick Baumgardner reported, Wolf’s optimism regarding Harbaugh comes from the coach’s success in turning around first Stanford and then Michigan — with the Wolverines showing quick progress after only one season (from 5-7 to 10-3).
“He’s a great coach and I know how he transformed Stanford and we saw how he transformed Michigan last year,”Baumgardner quoted Wolf. “And I think they’ll be even better in year two than year one with him.”
Michigan will open up the season ranked No. 7 in the AP Poll.
