Thirty years ago, Rich Eisen – as he put it – walked on Michigan’s campus with “big dreams and a fake ID.”
The television and radio personality was back in Ann Arbor last weekend, serving as the Wolverines honorary captain for their matchup with UCF. Eisen is in good company in that regard, as Michael Jordan was the honorary captain in Week 1 and Tom Brady will do so this weekend.
But before Eisen, a Michigan graduate who currently has shows on DirecTV and Fox Sports radio, was in the Big House, he gave a speech to the current Wolverines after a Friday practice. Jim Harbaugh introduced him and then watched intently as Eisen delivered a five-minute speech about why Michigan is special to him.
“You do it with class. You do it with honor. You do it with dignity,” he said about the way Michigan plays football. “And perhaps just as importantly, you do it with a fullback and you do it with two tight ends and you do it in the trenches.”
