Do we have a tripping epidemic in college basketball?
The latest culprit is Michigan State freshman big man Nick Ward. In the midst of total domination by Michigan against the Spartans on Tuesday in Ann Arbor, Ward sneakily stuck his foot out and sent the Wolverines’ Moe Wagner tumbling.

After a review during the timeout, the officials assessed Ward with a technical foul for his actions. It marked the second technical of the game after Michigan’s D.J. Wilson taunted Kenny Goins after dunking on top of him.
It also marked another testy interaction between Wagner and Ward. The two received double-technicals for some post-whistle jawing during Michigan State’s 70-62 win on Jan. 29.
It has been a different story thus far, as Michigan leads 55-29 at halftime in Ann Arbor.
