UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — Stop No. 2 on Day No. 1 of the Michigan satellite camp tour was John Carroll University in Northeast Ohio. Jim Harbaugh and his staff showed no ill effects of their trip from Macon, Ga., where they were part of the camp at Mercer.
John Carroll, a Division III national semifinalist last season, has former Michigan assistant Rick Finotti as its new head coach. The relationship between Harbaugh and Finotti made this camp combination a perfect fit. The two of them welcomed more than 200 players to the camp Friday night at Don Shula Stadium. The Pro Football Hall of Fame coach is an alumnus of John Carroll.
Michigan is hosting a specialist camp on Saturday, but coaches are also headed to Bowie State in Maryland and Sam Houston State in Texas. There are as many as three camps on the agenda for Sunday: Old Dominion in Richmond, Va., Valdosta State in Georgia, and Incarnate Word in Texas. Monday’s planner has Harbaugh and staff in Boca Raton, Fla., for a camp at Florida Atlantic and new head coach Lane Kiffin.
