Tarik Black’s promising freshman season at Michigan has hit a road block after Week 3.
Black will undergo surgery after suffering a cracked bone on the outside of his foot, Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters Monday. Michigan’s leading wide receiver got injured in the fourth quarter of the win Saturday over Air Force and was carted to the locker room.
Harbaugh said he did not know if Black would be back this season.
Black led the Wolverines in receptions (11) and receiving yards (149) after three games. Black had 5 catches for 55 yards against Air Force. His first career touchdown was Michigan’s first touchdown of the season — a 46-yard reception against Florida in Week 1.
Grant Perry is the only other Michigan receiver with more than 5 catches this season, as he has 10 grabs for 124 yards. Freshman Donovan Peoples-Jones made his first 2 career catches against Air Force, for 52 yards.
