Football betting has spanned well beyond actual games — you can now bet on who will be the starting quarterback in those games.
European sports book Bookmaker.eu posted odds on who will be the starter for both Michigan and Michigan State, two Big Ten teams that haven’t made a decision on a signal caller yet. Penn State is also listed, but there are no odds available.
Tyler O’Connor -400
Damion Terry +425
Brian Lewerke 20/1
John O’Korn -300
Wilton Speight +220
Shane Morris 20/1
So what do these odds mean? O’Connor and O’Korn are the heavy favorites.
When betting on O’Connor, a bettor would have to lay $40 to win $10. If the bettors wins, he gets $10, plus the $40 back. When betting on Damion Terry, a bettor wagers $10 to win $42.50, and gets $52.50 if it hits.
O’Connor has spent the last three season’s as Connor Cook’s backup and will be a redshirt senior. He’s 34 of 54 for 374 yards with 4 TDs and 2 INTs in his career.
Terry, a rising junior, hasn’t thrown a pass in his career but has carried 33 times for 130 yards.
For Michigan, John O’Korn is expected to start. He transferred from Houston after losing his starting job to the dynamic Greg Ward Jr. and sat out last season. He was the 2013 AAC Freshman of the Year.
Speight played in six games as a backup last year.
