ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Each Friday, we’ll cobble together a quick roundup of the best quotes and tweets from the Michigan football program’s coaches, players and recruits. Some will be serious, some will be offbeat, but they’ll give some more insight on the Wolverines.
No. 3 Michigan (9-0, 6-0 Big Ten Conference) plays at Iowa (5-4, 3-3) at 8 p.m. ET Saturday at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa.
“I try to lay low, I just want play football. … I’m in class, I’m in my house. I don’t wear anything football-related, I try to keep a hat on, headphones on, do what I’ve got to do, stay grounded. Don’t get too low, don’t get too high.”
Jabrill Peppers on how he handles attention — as he was surrounded by at least 20 reporters inside Schembechler Hall on Tuesday.

“He gave me a B-plus. I gave myself a B.”
Mike McCray on his post-Maryland evaluation. McCray and his father, Mike Sr., a former Ohio State captain, critique each game. McCray wasn’t exactly thrilled with his play last week in a 59-3 win against Maryland.
“I’m in an apolitical mood today. We’re in preparation. … I’m in no mood to support any cause foreign or domestic, besides our game against Iowa.”
Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, when asked on Detroit’s WXYT-FM Thursday about his players’ reactions to the outcome of the presidential election on social media.
Harbaugh was aware Tuesday was Election Day, unlike Alabama coach Nick Saban. Saban, though, also doesn’t make political statements.
“When I played for Coach Harbaugh at the 49ers, I would walk into the building in the morning, and I asked security how long he had been there. They told me he never left. It was two days, and he was still at the facility rocking a five o’clock shadow. That happened more than once, he would just stay there.”
Former Michigan wide receiver Braylon Edwards, who played for Jim Harbaugh in 2011 with the San Francisco 49ers.
“It stunts your growth.”
Michigan quarterback Wilton Speight, who is 6-foot-6, on why he can live without a caffeine fix.
We’d recommend a decaf soy no-whip hazelnut latte for those who don’t do caffeine.
And on Election Day, it appears someone cast a vote for Harbaugh and Peppers as Michigan State’s next trustee — or has a really good Snapchat filter.
