Paul Finebaum and Jim Harbaugh have had a little war with words each of the last two offseasons. But Sunday, the ESPN analyst actually gave the Michigan coach props for his team’s trip to Italy.
“My hat’s off to Jim Harbaugh,” Finebaum said Sunday. “He nailed it on this one.”
Finebaum ripped Harbaugh last spring for taking his team to IMG Academy in Florida during spring practice. It was, at least in part, a recruiting ploy to expose one of the country’s best high school programs to Michigan.
This year, Harbaugh took Michigan to Rome. The team did gladiator training, took a cooking class, toured the Vatican museum, saw the opera, held its final spring practices and plenty more. It was funded by a private donor.
“I think this is one of the most positive and maybe the best story of the year in college football,” Finebaum said. “This is what a college experience should be about.”
