Jim Harbaugh is no longer No. 1.
The Michigan coach no longer holds the title of highest-paid coach in college football after Alabama’s Nick Saban reportedly received a contract extension Tuesday. Saban will now make $11.125 million per season, according to USA Today.
With the reworked deal, Saban leapfrogs Harbaugh on the college football coaches salary list. Harbaugh makes just more than $9 million per year, according to contract information obtained by USA Today. Harbaugh’s contract was renegotiated just before the 2016 season to make him the highest-paid coach in the country.
Saban was second on the list in 2016, making just shy of $7 million.
Ohio State’s Urban Meyer was third, and second in the Big Ten, with a salary hovering above the $6 million mark in 2016.
