Rashan Gary had high expectations on him when he got to Ann Arbor, as he came to college as the top-rated player in the 2016 class.
But one-third of the way through his true freshman season, he’s living up to the hype.
Gary has 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack and 15 total tackles in his first season at Michigan, where he’s shown power and speed off the edge as a defensive end. With his skills and numbers, Pro Football Focus rated Gary as the third-best true freshman of the 2016 season so far.
Gary was the only Big Ten player in the top 10 and fell behind only Clemson’s Dexter Lawrence and Houston’s Ed Oliver. The full list can be found here.
While there were no other Big Ten representatives in the top 10, Michigan State WR Donnie Cornley was put on the watch list, as were Minnesota defensive ends Tai’yon Devers and Carter Coughlin.
