Wisconsin wide receiver George Rushing thought there should have been a penalty on Jourdan Lewis on the late-game interception. Rushing went to Twitter to vent his frustration.
So Michigan’s Jourdan Lewis responded, saying Rushing had no chance to make the catch and that he should be happy he’s on TV thanks to the play.
“Boy it was no way you was go catch it (sic),” Lewis said. “Just be happy you on espn. Plus the game was over.”
Lewis deleted the tweet, but here’s how it looked:
Some very strong words from Lewis, who has already voiced his frustration with internet criticism of the play.
Rushing has since deleted his tweet, which included a photo of the two on the play. Rushing thought the photo proved Lewis held him and committed a penalty. Rushing also used the words, “Ima just leave this here” above the photo.
It’s not surprising the two players remember the play differently. Regardless, it looks like the one-handed interception (if you’re a Michigan fan) or no-call (Wisconsin fan) will remain a talking point for some time.
Lewis later addressed his deleted tweet:
That was out of character, smh.
