Michigan’s football uniform release event drew lots of attention in early August, when the Wolverines unveiled their new Nike-designed uniforms in Detroit. Then in early September, Michael Jordan served as an honorary captain for Michigan’s football season opener against Hawaii.
Michigan signed a 15-year contract with Nike that could total up to $173.8 million that took effect Aug. 1, 2016. At the time of the contract’s announcement, it was the biggest contract signed between a university and an apparel company.
