Jim Harbaugh has started a tradition of taking Michigan football to Europe during the past two years. European football is coming back to Michigan Stadium this summer.
Liverpool and Manchester United — two titans of the English Premier League — will play a friendly match at The Big House on July 28, 2018, according to a report from the Liverpool Echo. It’s the second time in five years that Michigan Stadium has hosted a European soccer match. Real Madrid and Manchester United played in Ann Arbor during the International Champions Cup in August 2014, drawing 109,318 fans.
No official announcement has been made by the Michigan athletic department about the match, but one is expected on Wednesday, according to MLive.
It’s not clear if Harbaugh will have a rooting interest between Liverpool and Manchester United. He developed a relationship with AS Roma during the Wolverines’ trip to Italy last spring. Michigan is planning a trip to Paris this year.
