ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan running back Chris Evans has left the game following a hit during the first quarter of Saturday’s game against Illinois.
Evans was hit by Illinois’ Stanley Green at the end of a 16-yard carry during the first quarter, and lost his helmet and the ball on the play. He was tended to on the field by medical staff, and walked off the field and to Michigan’s sideline under his own power.
Michigan’s radio broadcast said Evans was taken to Michigan’s locker room and is undergoing concussion-protocol testing. Evans entered today’s game as Michigan’s leading rusher with 400 yards and three touchdowns on 48 carries.
No. 3 Michigan leads Illinois 14-0 with about five minutes left in the first quarter.
