Michigan, Ohio State lead the way for defensive tackle Jay Tufele
One of the nation’s top defensive tackles revealed his current top three schools on Saturday, and two Big Ten arch-rivals were at the very top.
Jay Tufele, a four-star prospect from South Jordan, Utah, told 247Sports.com’s Barton Simmons that Michigan, Ohio State and Utah were the frontrunners for the prospect’s services.
“The three that are leading right now are probably Michigan, Ohio State and Utah,” Tufele told Simmons at The Opening event in Beaverton, Oregon. “I’m going to take all five of my official visits for sure. Whatever comes from that, I’ll be making my final decision on signing day.”
Tufele is rated as the No. 3 defensive tackle nationally in the Class of 2017 and the No. 51 player overall. He has received 21 scholarship offers, including offers from Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, USC and UCLA. The 6-foot-3, 297-pound lineman has already paid unofficial visits to USC and UCLA and also attended Utah’s junior day in 2016.
