Michigan loses 2019 QB recruit, gains RB, DT and TE
While Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh missed out on potential 4-star QB recruit Dwan Mathis on Sunday, he landed three expected future players within hours before and after Mathis’ decision. The three new Wolverines pledges are 4-star East Kentwood (Mich.) defensive tackle Mazi Smith, 4-star Oaks Christian (Calif.) running back Zach Charbonnet and 3-star Fairfield (Ohio) tight end Erick All.

Wolverines have 6 players in SI’s top 100
Over the past few weeks, Sports Illustrated has released its Top 100 College Football Players of 2018, and the Wolverines had five more players ranked than their cross-state rivals. The Wolverines led the Big Ten with six selections, while the Spartans only received one. The Big Ten had 18 total selections.
Michigan’s defense can be scary good
Michigan’s 2017 defense ranked No. 1 nationally in third-down conversions allowed, No. 3 in total yards allowed and No. 4 in pass efficiency. With nine of 11 players from that defense returning, Land of 10’s Kevin Goheen argues that Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown’s 2018 defense can be even better.
Chris Webber accepts Jim Harbaugh’s invitation to serve as honorary captain
Chris Webber, the five-time NBA All-Star and leader of Michigan’s famed Fab Five, was invited by Harbaugh to be an honorary captain for a Michigan football game this fall. Harbaugh called into a local radio program during an appearance from Webber to personally extend the invitation, and Webber accepted.
Jalen Rose reacts to Chris Webber accepting Jim Harbaugh’s invitation
ESPN’s Jalen Rose said Monday on his show Get Up that he is thrilled his former teammate will be making his triumphant return to Michigan. However, Rose is aware that Webber may be doing this to help his candidacy for the Hall of Fame.
