Sunday night capped one heck of a day for Michigan football.
First, the Wolverines received a verbal commitment from Zach Charbonnet, a 4-star running back from California who is part of the team’s 2019 class. The top-rated recruit from that class, 5-star prospect Chris Hinton, tweeted this after Charbonnet’s announcement:
We are not done👀

Hinton knew what he was talking about. Not long after his tweet was published, Michigan got another 4-star prospect to commit for 2019 — defensive tackle Mazi Smith.

Smith, according to 247Sports, is a 4-star prospect from Grand Rapids, Mich. He is ranked as the No. 7 defensive tackle and No. 4 player in Michigan. Also, he ranks as the No. 123 player overall.
The site’s Crystal Ball predictions had 14 predictions regarding where Smith would end up, and they each had him going to Michigan. Again, they were spot on with the Wolverines ending up victorious.
Michigan’s 2019 class is now 14 deep, moving up to No. 10 nationally and No. 2 in the Big Ten. Smith is the first defensive tackle to verbally commit to the Wolverines for 2019.
