Towards the end of 2017, Michigan wide receiver Maurice Ways announced that he will not be playing his final year of college football at Michigan.
Nearly four months later, Ways announced that he will transfer to California as a graduate transfer for the 2018 college football season. Ways broke the news on Sunday with an Instagram post.
Here is the post:
In the post, Ways wrote:
“Blessings on Blessings on Blessings!!! I’ll be playing my last year of collegiate football @cal_football while obtaining my Masters degree. I’m extremely thankful & excited to continue my journey in Berkeley! MAJOR shout out to God! Thank you 🙌🏾 #ThisIsBearTerritory“
In his time at Michigan, Ways played in 8 games and made 8 catches for 71 yards. According to NCAA rules, graduate transfers are eligible to play immediately once they transfer, so Ways will be able to play for Cal’s season opener against North Carolina on Sept. 1.
He will be joining a Cal team that went 5-7 in 2017.
