Less than a week from election day, two big names in Michigan football have thrown their support behind a candidate for Michigan regent.
Sarah Harbaugh and Cathy Schembechler, have endorsed candidate Ron Weiser for election to the Board of Michigan Regents. Harbaugh is the wife of current Michigan coach, Jim, and Cathy was married to late former Wolverines coach, Bo.
They were both featured on a radio ad, which has hit the Michigan airwaves this week.
Weiser is one of four major candidates running for a spot on the Board. He’ll face off against Larry Dietch, Denise Ilitch and Carl Meyers.
Weiser graduated from Michigan in 1966 and went on to hold a multitude of political positions, according to his campaign website. Most notably, Weiser — a Republican — was appointed the ambassador to the Slovak Republic by President George W. Bush in 2001.
