It appears as if John Beilein and Michigan have found an experienced player to fill their final scholarship spot for the 2017-18 season.
According to the Athens Messenger and The Post, Ohio University point guard Jaaron Simmons will transfer to Michigan for his final college season. As a graduate transfer, he will be eligible to play immediately.
Simmons averaged 15.7 points per game for the Bobcats the last two years while shooting 45 percent from the floor and 37.3 percent from 3-point range.
Michigan will be Simmons’ third school, as he spent the 2013-14 season at Houston before transferring to Ohio.
Last month, Simmons announced he was declaring for the NBA draft, but he did not hire an agent, allowing him to return to school.
Smith will help the Wolverines fill the void left by departed point guard Derrick Walton Jr.
