Offensive tackle Sunny Odogwu rained some bad news on Michigan Friday, as Bruce Feldman reported Friday he would pick UCLA over the Wolverines.

Odogwu, who had his 2016 season cut short due to an ankle injury, would’ve added an experienced lineman to Michigan’s line. That experience would’ve been gladly welcomed in Ann Arbor, especially due to the Wolverines losing three starting linemen from its 2016 squad.
Odogwu visited Michigan on May 31, and tweeted his time on campus was “amazing.” However, he also had a visit scheduled to UCLA right after, and the Bruins were able to sway Odogwu to Los Angeles.
Moving forward, Michigan’s offensive line situation will still need some figuring out. Tackle Grant Newsome, who suffered a serious knee injury during the 2016 season, will most likely not play in 2017.
Ben Bredeson, fifth-year senior Patrick Kugler, Michael Onwenu, Mason Cole and Jon Runyan started at offensive line in Michigan’s spring game. Bredeson and Cole are the only two returning starters for Michigan, however it seemed Cole was moving to left tackle instead of playing at center, which is where he played in 2016.
We’ll never know for sure, but adding a grad transfer like Sunny Odogwu would’ve helped clear some of the clouds on Michigan’s offensive line situation.
