Jim Harbaugh is already making Michigan history.
The coach is now 17-3 as the head coach of his alma mater after beating Illinois 41-8 on Saturday. It’s the same mark that Bo Schembechler put up when he started at Michigan.
Jim Harbaugh is 17-3 in his first 20 games at Michigan. Matches Bo Schembechler for the best U-M record in first 20 games since Yost.

Schembechler went 194-48-5 from 1969-1989. Fielding Yost, the program’s pioneer, went 165-29-10 from 1901-1923 and 1925-1926.
Harbaugh probably won’t get to 200 wins, but he’s well on his way to restoring Michigan’s dominance in the Big Ten.
He’ll just have to start beating Ohio State — the Buckeyes have lost The Game just once since 2004.
