After suffering a torn ACL against Florida State in the Orange Bowl, former Michigan Wolverines TE Jake Butt stated at the NFL combine that he’d return to football activities in five-and-a-half months. However, Butt also said he might bench at Michigan’s pro day, which is slated for March 24.
If the 6-foot-6, 250-pound Ohio native does indeed return to the field in mid-August, teams would be taking an obvious flier on his health were they to select him in the latter rounds of the NFL draft. Currently, he’s listed as the sixth-best tight end available in Walter Football’s draft rankings.
Additionally, Butt made a point to declare his satisfaction in returning for his senior season, along with participating in the bowl game before his injury. In 2016, Butt posted 46 receptions for 546 yards and 4 touchdowns.
