Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers had his first dominant three-way performance of the season on Saturday, and the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook is taking note.
Peppers is now the fourth betting choice to win the Heisman Trophy at 10-to-1 behind only three quarterbacks: Louisville’s Lamar Jackson (4-9), Clemson’s Deshaun Watson (7-1) and Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett (8-1). Washington quarterback Jake Browning is also 10-to-1.
Peppers was 40-to-1 at Westgate last week and 50-to-1 the week prior. He opened the season at 60-to-1.
The Wolverines’ do-it-all star has 38 tackles, including 10 for loss, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble on defense in six games. He’s carried five times for 98 yards and two touchdowns on offense, most of that in a 78-0 win over Rutgers last Saturday.
Peppers also is averaging 17.79 yards per punt return, fourth nationally, with one touchdown.
There’s been plenty of Heisman chatter around Peppers since the summer, but among oddsmakers, he wasn’t a serious candidate until this week. Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman has Peppers third on his ballot.
