Hawaii coach Nick Rolovich says he was joking about asking for Michigan’s scrimmage tape
Well, #scrimmagetapegate is no more. Hawaii coach Nick Rolovich said he joked about having a discussion with Michigan regarding getting the Wolverines’ scrimmage tape.
On R&K, Nick Rolovich clarifies he was joking about asking Michigan for practice tape, says there wasn’t any real discussion.

Rolovich had said he asked Michigan about sending scrimmage tape, but Michigan said it wouldn’t. Rolovich’s joking explanation works with Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh’s own take on the situation — he said on Thursday morning that he was unaware of any Hawaii request. So it looks like there was neither a request nor a Michigan refusal.
Now that it’s cleared up, everyone can focus on Saturday’s noon game.
Hawaii opened the 2016 season when it played Cal this past Friday in Australia. With the Rainbow Warriors in Michigan this week, the team has completed a long, long, stretch of travel in less than a week.
