After two Michigan kickers combined to miss three field goals in the team’s 14-7 win over Wisconsin last week, coach Jim Harbaugh said he was looking for “someone to put their iron jock on and put the ball through the uprights.”
Freshman place-kicker Quinn Nordin may be ready to do just that. The No. 1 kicker from the 2016 recruiting class, according to 247Sports, overcame an undisclosed injury and appeared in uniform for the first time Saturday.

Harbaugh held an open kicking competition between Nordin, fifth-year senior Kenny Allen and walk-on Ryan Tice during practice this week. Michigan entered Saturday’s game having made four of nine field-goal attempts.
