The topic surrounding how much money college football coaches make certainly received added attention Wednesday. USA Today released its annual college football head coach compensation data, and the numbers were once again revealing.
Twenty coaches will earn $4 million or more this year, including four from the Big Ten. In addition, Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh, who will earn just over $9 million, is the highest paid coach in the nation.
Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt thinks Harbaugh is worth every cent.

Talking on the FS1 show, “Speak For Yourself,” Klatt argued Harbaugh’s salary matches his worth because the football program is the “marketing arm” at an institution like Michigan. He added that many universities rely on out-of-state students financially and the best way to lure them in is with a successful football team.
Harbaugh has Michigan undefeated and ranked second in the nation eight weeks into this season.
