It’s the offseason, but recruiting never stops in Ann Arbor, Mich., where Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverines are building their classes of the future. Check Land of 10 daily for the latest inside the Michigan recruiting room.
2019 CB Kenyatta Watson II plans to visit Michigan with teammates in June
A top-tier 2019 recruit, along with a few teammates, are scheduled to visit Michigan in June.
Loganville (Ga.) Grayson CB Kenyatta Watson II, a 4-star prospect, is the centerpiece of a contingent that will include approximately 20 members of the Grayson football team – a top-5 program in the country.
The group will include two other players who were offered by the Wolverines on Monday – OT Wanya Morris and LB Kevin Harris, also of the 2019 class. Both are 4-star players, according to the 247Sports solo rankings, as composite scores haven’t been released for them yet.
Watson, despite being committed to Florida State, is thinking about the trip to Ann Arbor and what Michigan might have in store for him.
“I think Michigan is a great school. Coach [Jim] Harbaugh does a great job with the defense, and I like how he plays his corners pressed up,” Watson told Land of 10. “As of right now, every college that is recruiting me is getting a look … I just don’t know whether to call it serious or not.”
Watson’s offer came from Michigan linebackers coach Chris Partridge on Monday.

“Coach Partridge offered me, and their message was that they liked long corners who will get up in your face,” Watson said. “That’s who I am.”
Neither distance nor weather is much of a factor to Watson, a Boston native who said he thinks the weather in Michigan is better than the weather in Georgia.
Look for Watson’s visit to come around June 20. That visit could be paramount for the Wolverines’ chances with him as well as with his fellow offered teammates who make the trip.
Top 100 TE prospect Austin Stogner calls Michigan offer ‘as big as it gets’
Plano (Texas) Prestonwood Christian 4-star TE prospect Austin Stogner, Class of 2019, also was offered by Michigan Monday night.
— Austin Stogner (@austin_stogner) May 3, 2017
“[Offensive coordinator] Tim Drevno offered me,” Stogner said. “He wanted me to know that they want me at Michigan, and to just give them a chance. He also said that no one uses the tight ends like Jim Harbaugh.”
Drevno has a point. Of course, Harbaugh had one of the program’s best ever at the position in Jake Butt the last two seasons. In his four seasons at Stanford, Harbaugh also coached tight ends Colby Fleener and Zach Ertz, both of whom became second-round selections in the NFL draft.
Stogner said he recognizes the opportunity the Wolverines present to him. And Michigan is in good company, as Stogner has 17 other offers as a sophomore, including Florida, Florida State, LSU, Notre Dame and Nebraska.
“It’s an awesome offer. It’s as big of an offer as it gets,” Stogner told Land of 10. “A great education and a chance to play big-time football.”
Ranked as the No. 65 overall player in the country early in the 2019 cycle, Stogner said he already has a visit to Ann Arbor in his mind, telling Land of 10 that it’s a “for sure” thing that he will head to campus this summer.
He said Michigan stands “very high” with him, but he added he wants to visit campus and see what it’s like before saying anything too crazy about his early liking of the Wolverines.
With the importance of the tight end in the Michigan offense, and the fit that Stogner could be in it, expect him to become an early priority as the Wolverines coaches build the 2019 class.
