Michigan linebacker/safety Jabrill Peppers might not have to move very far for his NFL career, at least if the new Detroit Free Press mock draft is to be believed.
On Tuesday, the Free Press published a mock draft from Lions beat writer Dave Birkett that had Peppers going to the Detroit Lions with the 21st pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
“In this situation, [the Lions] have to choose between possibly overdrafting a linebacker or taking the versatile Peppers, who’d help in the secondary and in the return game,” Birkett wrote.
Birkett’s mock draft had Michigan defensive end Taco Charlton going to the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 14.
Peppers played linebacker for the Wolverines last year as a junior after spending two seasons in the secondary. He recorded 66 tackles, three sacks and an interception while excelling as a kick and punt returner and was named a Heisman finalist.
Mock drafts have a wide range of projections on Peppers, with the 21-year-old pegged anywhere from the mid-first round to the second round.
