Deron Irving-Bey, 4-star DE, Southwestern Commencement Academy (Flint, Mich.)
“LaMarr Woodley. … I never watched him play. I didn’t really watch football until last year, my junior season, but I heard about him being at Michigan, and that’s when I watched some of his footage and I was really impressed with him. He was just a real good player.”
James Hudson, 4-star DT, Central Catholic (Toledo, Ohio)
“I’m not sure … I love watching Frank Clark play, and I love watching Chris Wormley play. Jabrill Peppers, he’s Jabrill. He’s a dynamic player. He does great things, and I also like Denard Robinson.”
Phillip Paea, 3-star DT, Berrien Springs (Mich.)
“This is a hard question to answer, because growing up, I never really rooted for Michigan until they started recruiting me and I started going into their program. Seeing what they had to offer, I fell in love with that. But growing up, I was always a West Coast fan, a USC fan, an Oregon fan. My favorite player was Jeremiah Masoli, a quarterback who was Tongan and who transferred to Ole Miss.”
Josh Ross, 4-star LB, St. Mary’s Preparatory (Orchard Lake, Mich.)
“I know exactly who it was. Mike Hart. He was a running back, and I was a running back, and I used to watch Michigan all the time. When I was young, I played running back and that was my favorite back.”
Jaylen Kelly-Powell, 4-star safety, Cass Tech (Detroit)
“Denard Robinson, he’s one of my favorite Michigan players. When I played video games, I always picked him to be on my team. I knew he was a running quarterback, and when he’d run away, I knew my team had a chance to win, especially with that scramble.
