Twenty-five years later, Chris Webber’s NCAA Tournament finals flub lives on. TBS made sure of it Monday evening, at least. When Michigan’s Moe Wagner and Villanova’s Jalen Brunson were issued double technicals during the national championship game, TBS flashed a graphic that was sure to feel like a gut punch for Wolverines fans.
Former Wisconsin center Frank Kaminsky snapped a photo of the graphic and posted it to Twitter:
That is a crazy stat… pic.twitter.com/mywK7FhDJd

Webber, of course, infamously called a timeout in the waning moments of Michigan’s 1993 national championship game against North Carolina. The problem? The Wolverines were out of timeouts, and Webber was issued a technical. The Tar Heels went on to win, 77-71. The mistake has followed Webber ever since, through a 17-year NBA career and into retirement. It’s an unlikely to fade anytime soon, especially after millions of fans were reminded of it as his former team played for its second-ever national title.
Since winning it all in 1989, the Wolverines have made it to the NCAA championship game four times, coming up short every occasion. Michigan fell to Villanova, 79-62, on Monday.
