Louisville may be the higher seed for the 2017 NCAA Tournament second round game against Michigan, but Cardinals coach Rick Pitino has some high praise for the Wolverines.
After No. 2 seed Louisville beat Jacksonville State on Friday, Pitino compared hot-shooting, No. 7 Michigan to the Golden State Warriors.
No, really. He was apparently that impressed with the Wolverines’ shooting

Michigan beat Oklahoma State 92-91 on Friday to advance to the second round. The Wolverines shot a ridiculous 16-for-29 on 3-pointers — a program tournament record.
Derrick Walton Jr. had six 3-pointers on nine attempts, Zak Irvin made four of six and Muhammad Abdur-Rahkman made half of his six attempts. The Cowboys simply couldn’t keep up. As Land of 10’s Sean Keeler wrote, Walton’s performance bring back memories of Stephen Curry’s NCAA Tournament performance from his days at Davidson. So maybe Pitino’s comparison isn’t totally off.
Apparently the hot shooting reminded Pitino of NBA sharpshooters Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and the (now injured) Kevin Durant.
So now the Wolverines head to Sunday’s second-round game against the Cardinals. The winner advances to the Sweet 16.
