On Thursday night, Mike Sadler was officially inducted into the Michigan State Athletics Hall of Fame.
Michigan State waived the standard 10-year waiting period to induct Sadler, who played punter for the Spartans from 2010-14. He died in a July car crash that also killed Nebraska punter Sam Foltz.
Sadler’s mother, Karen Sadler, spoke on behalf of her son at the induction ceremony. In her speech, she described Mike Sadler’s love for Michigan State and his passion for helping other people.
She also challenged the other athletes in the room to use their platform to “make a difference.”
