If you ask LJ Scott, he’ll tell you it’s a “three-headed monster.”
In 2017, Michigan State brings back the trio of running backs that split time a year ago: Scott, Gerald Holmes and Madre London. Scott, a junior, took the bulk of the carries in 2016, rushing 184 times for a team-leading 994 yards. Holmes, who is entering his senior season, finished with 431 yards. London, who rushed for 120 yards, is a junior.
The Spartans will rely on a strong rushing attack to take pressure off of a young quarterback, Brian Lewerke, and his young receiving corps. More consistent offensive line play will be crucial to making that happen.
Who will lead the Spartans in rushing yards this season? Let us know your thoughts. Maybe you don’t even think it will be a running back. You can make that guess as well.
But we wouldn’t advise it.
