O’Connor got the starting nod against Michigan over redshirt freshman Brian Lewerke, who started the previous two games against Northwestern and Maryland. O’Connor did not play against the Terrapins due to a foot injury.
O’Connor last started against BYU on Oct. 9, a 31-14 loss for the Spartans. Michigan State has lost five games in a row entering Saturday’s meeting with the Wolverines.
For the season, O’Connor is 91 of 149 passing for 1,257 yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions. Lewerke is 25 of 47 for 281 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.
