Friday will be one of the more memorable days of Tom Izzo’s career as the Michigan State coach is set to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Izzo, who has led the Spartans to seven Final Fours and the 2000 National Championship in his 21-year tenure as head coach, spoke about the induction means to him with CBS Sports’ Doug Gotlieb on Wednesday night.
“This Hall of Fame experience… it’s going to probably hit (Thursday) and the next day,” he said. “But I can’t tell you how humbling it is to be in the Hall with so many great coaches and players. And yet seeing so many great coaches and players not in the Hall, it makes it even more thrilling.”
The full interview — where Izzo also talks about Draymond Green and turning down the Cleveland Cavaliers job in 2014 – can be found below.
