The Breslin Center has a new wax figurine of Michigan State’s men’s basketball coach. At least, it’s supposed to be of its coach.
Does this look like Tom Izzo? I’ll let you decide.
This is the new wax figurine of Tom Izzo at Breslin Center. The real Izzo described him as “creepy” pic.twitter.com/OLgz6E6Lkg

The wax figurine is part of the Breslin Center’s new entrance. Izzo’s is accompanied by three generic players in Michigan State jerseys.
“I’ve gotta be honest. It is creepy,” Izzo told reporters Friday. “But I think all wax things are creepy. I saw it a little bit the first time. They brought it in a couple times. They’re tweaking it. I think they’ve still got some tweaking to do. I just looked at it for a quick second, because I’m like you. It was a little strange. The concept is good. Just a little strange.”
I doubt Izzo will find much resistance to that comment. Brushing aside the fact that all wax figures of people are likely creepy, the resemblance here is lacking. A refresher:
Here they are side-by-side:
Again, there’s some resemblance, but I think it’s a bit lacking.
No matter your opinions on the figurine, though, Izzo’s definitely deserving. The coach is 559-221 in 23 years as a head coach. Izzo has won a National Championship, and he’s been to 20 NCAA tournaments and seven Final Fours. This won’t be the final honor he receives from Michigan State, and that might be for the best.
