Only a little more than six weeks separate us from the beginning of basketball season, and the expectations are starting to become more clear.
The first Associated Press poll of the season is still a while off, but CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish released his top 25 (plus one) on Wednesday. The top four teams are all household college basketball names with Duke, Kentucky, Kansas and defending champion Villanova, going 1-4. The full poll can be found here.
The Big Ten makes its mark a little further down the list, with Michigan State checking in at No. 8. Indiana is two spots behind at No. 10 and Wisconsin is No. 12.
Purdue was the lone other Big Ten team in the top 25, with the Boilermakers are tabbed as the 20th-best team in the country.
