WASHINGTON — Let’s rip off the names and pull up the resumes for a second. Now let’s say you’ve only got room for two of the following three squads in your NCAA Tournament bracket:
*6-7 vs. the Rating Percentage Index top 50
*Nine wins vs. the RPI top 100
*Nonconference SOS: 106
*2-6 vs. the RPI top 50
*Six wins vs. the RPI top 100
*Nonconference SOS: 159
*5-8 vs. the RPI top 50
*10 wins vs. the RPI top 100
*Nonconference SOS: 20
Based purely on merit, we know which one we’re not taking, right?
Team B’s got fewer quality scalps and a borderline-sexy RPI rank. It slogged through a perfectly meh nonconference slate.
So let’s put the names back on.
Team A: Iowa State
Team B: USC
Team C: Michigan State
Hang on, hang on, hang on. So why are we sweating the Spartans (19-14) landing on the wrong side of the bubble at the end of the weekend?
How is Michigan State not on the bubble? Their resume is terrible

If Michigan State makes the NCAA tournament I will delete my Twitter account

Stop. Just … stop.
“We can only control what we can control,” Spartans guard Cassius Winston said after Gang Green fell to Minnesota, 63-58, in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals Friday at the Verizon Center.
“We wish we could’ve done better in the (conference) tournament and helped ourselves out, but at the end of the day, we’re going to see. If we get another chance, we’ll feel grateful.”
And if they don’t, they should feel absolutely robbed.
Exhibit B, your honor:
Wake Forest: 13
Kansas State: 227
Michigan State: 20
Wake Forest: 8-10
Kansas State: 9-7
Michigan State: 5-12
So: in, in, in, in, in, in, in, maybe.

Michigan State’s résumé is not good enough for the NCAA Tournament, but they’re Michigan State. They’ll be in.
